You might have watched it on cable TV after midnight in your youth. Maybe it was early in the morning while staying home sick from school; half asleep on the couch from the cough syrup your mother fed you. An older sibling might have rented it and left it loaded in the VCR for you to accidentally discover.
It always sat up on the highest shelf in the video store, staring down at you. The cover art now seared into your memory. Recollections of the film itself are foggy and it almost seems like a dream. For a time, many questioned its existence and whether this was another case of a collective misremembering. Copies of the tape are rare and nearly impossible to obtain.
