As time continued on, King Faramir’s attention left the court proceedings. His face fell blank as he drifted into a state of reverie; remembering a journey of tradition from his youth. The young Prince pushed his way through an eldritch forest. The flora lit up the dark night sky with hundreds of luminescent hues. Eventually, Faramir came across a being that looked much like an elderly man with their feet soaking at the shallow end of a lake, whose waters slowly rippled and refracted the glowing hues from the flora.

“Is it that moment already?” The Seer spoke.

“Pardon, Sir?” Faramir responded uneasily.

The Seer then turned themselves toward Faramir, revealing a severely weathered corpse-like face.

“Please don’t be alarmed, child, I’ve lived here for eternity”, the Seer assured. Faramir took to his knee so he could look into the Seer’s cloudy white eyes. “As your father’s time draws near to its end you’ve come seeking my prophecies just as your father did, and his father before him. These past pilgrimages didn’t mean much to the reigns of your ancestors but the tradition has been important as it has brought you to me now. Do you understand?”, croaked the Seer. Faramir nodded attentively, “Yes, Sir.”

The Seer continued,“There will come a time when you must choose the unlikeliest of champions. A scorned warrior to vanquish an evil which clouds the borders of your realm”.

In that instant, Faramir is awoken from his daydream and ripped back into the trial where the verdict is delivered. As the king exits his chair he is met by the royal council, who are shocked by his seemingly soft punishment. One of them steps forward to question the king, “My Lord- “ and is cut off by Faramir as he strolls forward.

“Step aside, Council. ‘Twas foretold long ago in prophecy. My judgment will not be questioned”.
